New Loft Renovation Adds Versatile Gathering Space

Updated: Nov 17, 2023

Our passion is to bring you extraordinary food and wine experiences while preserving the integrity and enhancing the unique character of our 150-year-old building.

We’re excited to introduce you to our newest project at Gideon Owen, The Loft. Over the past few months, construction crews have been working diligently to renovate this second-floor event space for you, your family, and friends.

In the process, we’ve been able to preserve and showcase the limestone walls original to the building and even uncovered two beautiful windows hidden behind plaster.

The Loft is set to be complete by August 2022, and we’ve already started taking reservations for private events.

This 2,500-square-foot room has always been used as an event space, and with these new renovations, your next gathering will be elevated to new heights with a unique backdrop of historic charm and modern accents.

The Loft can accommodate groups up to 100 guests. It’s a versatile space to celebrate any occasion, including weddings, rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, anniversaries, corporate meetings, and more. The possibilities are endless for your next event.

There is also a dedicated lounge space for comfortability and conversation, and beautiful fixtures will add to the ambiance, creating a lasting impression for your guests.

Let us help you turn life’s biggest moments into a memorable experience in The Loft. To inquire about the event space, visit our Events page or contact events@gideonowenwine.com. And stay tuned for more updates throughout the summer.

The point about uncovering what was already there rather than covering it up is exactly what makes historic spaces work. Silk Screen Studios in Philadelphia's Fishtown did the same with a former manufacturing building — exposed brick and heavy timber still intact, now 57 private lockable studios. For anyone looking to rent a space for small business use, month-to-month terms, no long commitment.

Its amazing how renovating an older building can reveal such hidden character. We had a similar experience uncovering original hardwood floors, and our remodeling contractor helped us make the most of every inch.

The charm of Sprunki Retake comes from its balance of simplicity and depth. It is easy to understand at first, but the more you experiment, the more interesting and complex your musical creations can become.

The detail about uncovering limestone walls and hidden windows is exactly what makes historic building renovation worth doing — those original elements have survived 150 years and just needed someone to find them. What allows that kind of preservation to keep working is the building envelope above it. A loft space directly under the roof of a 150-year-old structure depends entirely on that roof staying sound — water intrusion into historic limestone and plaster undoes restoration work faster than anything else. For property owners in Los Angeles with older or historic buildings doing similar adaptive reuse or renovation projects, https://sol-roofing.com/los-angeles/ offers free roof assessments across the area before any interior work begins.
